What is this about?
Our organization collects various types of personal data. We would like to provide you with the information required by data protection law.
 
About Us
We are Evangelical Christian Church “Jesus Looks at Me Fellowship Church” Via Giovanni Maraini 15a, 6963 Pregassona, Switzerland info.jlmfc@gmail.com JLMFC Church Lugano (hereinafter referred to as “we” or “us”), as the operator of the website www.jlmfc.ch, is responsible for the personal data of the users (hereinafter referred to as “you”) of the website in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nLPD).
 
What Personal Data Do We Collect?
In addition to the information you provide to us directly (through what you say, give, or do with us), we may also obtain information about you from third parties, namely:
▪ Your name, area of activity, and your request (thanksgivings/requests), as well as related information, as communicated to us by friends or third parties who care about you. We have included you in our prayer and donor lists and in our newsletters.
▪ Your bank details, if you wish to have donations transferred.
▪ Visual material (photos/videos) that we receive from a photographer during church/society events or from third parties.
▪ Your activities on social media/online.
▪ Publications in which you are mentioned.
 
Is Personal Data Transferred Abroad?
Yes, it is possible—not only within the European Economic Area (EEA) but also to countries around the world. If a given country does not provide adequate data protection, we will in particular enter into the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. However, in specific cases, we may also rely on your consent or transfer data abroad when it is necessary for the performance of a contract with you or in your interest (for example, collecting donations or prayers for you abroad).
 
Why Do We Collect Personal Data?
We do so for the following purposes (in addition to those communicated to you separately):

▪ Prayers (newsletters, prayer lists)
▪ Marketing (fundraising, print materials, letters, brochures)
▪ Newsletters
▪ Expressions of gratitude for your work/help
▪ Entering into/executing contracts with you, including job applications

▪ Market analysis (as part of our core tasks: pioneering work, church development, church promotion, socio-diaconal work, training, discipleship, humanitarian aid/emergency relief/development cooperation; and in relation to staff: short-term vs. long-term; donations; legal form)

To Whom Do We Disclose Personal Data?
▪ Business partners (charitable organizations, churches, and other individuals in Switzerland and abroad with whom we collaborate)
▪ Service providers (e.g., IT and cloud service providers, banks, insurance companies, transport and shipping companies)
▪ Distributors of prayer/donor lists (according to instructions for prayer letters/newsletters)
▪ Authorities (especially when required by law)
▪ Third parties that collect data about users through the website (e.g., Google Analytics)
 
What Are Your Rights?
In principle, you have the right to request information about the personal data we process. Specifically, you have the right to request:

▪ The retention period or, if this is not possible, the criteria used to determine that period

▪ The existence of any automated individual decision-making

We may or must limit these rights depending on the circumstances, as provided by law—for example, to protect third parties or when we are legally required to retain data (for donor data, the retention period is generally 10 years).
